Virtual LACS Cultural Conference to Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage in Luxembourg and the United States
This year’s 14th annual Cultural Conference, presented by the Luxembourg American Cultural Society, celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage movements with “Votes for Women: 100 Years of Voting Rights in Luxembourg and the United States.” The conference, typically held in Wisconsin as a part of Luxembourg Fest week activities, is instead presenting virtually for the first time, Thursday, August 6th from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Friday, August 7th from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm, with experts speaking from both the US and Luxembourg.
Luxembourg Fest Week Re-Envisioned in the Face of COVID-19
With the global pandemic dropping a gigantic question mark on the safety of this summer’s large-scale festivals and events, the board of the Luxembourg American Cultural Society has made the difficult decision to suspend all in-person events relating to the 34th annual Luxembourg Fest August 6-9- with some activities going virtual and others postponing.

The LACS Cultural Conference has gone virtual this year! We are celebrating the centenary of suffrage movements in both Luxembourg and the United States. Universal suffrage was adopted into law in Luxembourg in 1919, and women’s suffrage was ratified into law in the United States in 1920. Our expert speakers and their topics show how individuals worked together to create movements and built upon each other’s accomplishments. Join us as we dig deeper into the history of these suffrage movements and show the similarities and differences of events happening at the same time on different continents. There is a $5 registration fee for this conference to help offset technology costs. Everyone who registers will receive a free recording of the conference to watch at any time! Class size is limited- register today!
