Free – $15.00
Presented by Paul Thill and Claire Sertznig of Luxembourg’s Wine Institute.
Dive into Luxembourg’s booming wine industry with Paul Thill and Claire Sertznig of Luxembourg’s Wine Institute. This session will offer an introduction to the country’s esteemed wines, wine-growing culture, and expansive wine economy. Thill and Sertznig will also share the role the Wine Institute plays in keeping Luxembourg’s wine high quality, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.
Paul Thill, 46 years old, grew up in a small village of the Kanton (district) Remich. As a child he accompanied his godfather, a truck driver, to deliver Luxembourgish wines to Belgium and France. This was his first experience with the winemakers craft.
Paul studied chemistry at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France and completed with a master’s degree. In 2005 he joined the agricultural laboratory of the Ministry of agriculture in Ettelbruck where he took over the presidency of the Luxembourgish quality label on spirits until 2022.
Today he is the, one and only, wine inspector in Luxembourg and due to this role, in a close and constant contact with all the local winemakers.
Claire Sertznig, 31 years old, discovered her passion for local wines and Crémants during her time as Luxembourg’s Wine Queen. After completing her studies in International Wine Business at Geisenheim University and a semester abroad in the renowned Champagne region, she returned to the picturesque Moselle. Today, she heads the Marketing and Communication department for Luxembourg’s Wines and Crémants at the Viticulture Institute. With great enthusiasm, she dedicates herself to inspire people about the fine wines of her homeland and honoring the hard, passionate work of the winemakers who pour their heart and soul into the vineyards and cellars.
