Virtual LACS Cultural Conference to Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage in Luxembourg and the United States
This year’s 14th annual Cultural Conference, presented by the Luxembourg American Cultural Society, celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage movements with “Votes for Women: 100 Years of Voting Rights in Luxembourg and the United States.” The conference, typically held in Wisconsin as a part of Luxembourg Fest week activities, is instead presenting virtually for the first time, Thursday, August 6th from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Friday, August 7th from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm, with experts speaking from both the US and Luxembourg.
Celebrate National Day with Virtual Benefit Concert: “Live from Luxembourg: Featuring the Music of Luxembourg’s Zero Point Five”
The LACS is proud to present its first-ever virtual benefit concert, “Live from Luxembourg: Featuring the Music of Luxembourg’s Zero Point Five.” This pre-recorded concert will premiere on Luxembourg’s National Day holiday, Tuesday, June 23rd at 8 pm CST as a benefit for the LACS and a way to band its global community of Luxembourg Americans together on a day of joy and celebration.
Luxembourg Fest Week Re-Envisioned in the Face of COVID-19
With the global pandemic dropping a gigantic question mark on the safety of this summer’s large-scale festivals and events, the board of the Luxembourg American Cultural Society has made the difficult decision to suspend all in-person events relating to the 34th annual Luxembourg Fest August 6-9- with some activities going virtual and others postponing.
Ministry of Justice to Draft a Bill Extending Dual Citizenship Deadline One Year
Many of you have expressed concern about the approaching deadline for those applying for dual citizenship. The Ministry of Justice is fully aware of the problem of travel restrictions for some applicants of the dual citizenship living abroad, and is currently preparing a draft bill to extend the current deadline for another year.
Of course this bill has to pass through the legislative process in Parliament, but the Ministry of Justice is confident that there will be broad support and that the adoption can take place in the near future.

The LACS has been made aware of an online petition advocating for the extension of the December 31, 2020 phase 2 deadline.
Featured LACC Temporarily Closes to the Public
BELGIUM, WI. As a precautionary measure to protect its staff and guests from the risk of the coronavirus pandemic, the Luxembourg American Cultural Center will temporarily close to the public as of 4:00 pm Monday, March 16, 2020, until at least April 30th.
During this time, staff will still be checking email and phone messages, and asks for patience as they respond as quickly as possible.Updates to the eventual re-opening will be made on this website as well as its Facebook and Instagram accounts, once details are available.

Luxembourg American Cultural Society Celebrating New Beginnings with Debut of Renovated Center, and Immigrant Business Exhibit this Weekend
This weekend, the Luxembourg American Cultural Society celebrates new beginnings. After closing for renovations in early January, the center will reopen this Saturday, March 7th. Also making its debut is a new temporary exhibit: “The Business they Built: Local Luxembourg American Business.”
