Luxembourg Under the Stars Brings Magical Evening to Luxembourg Fest
BELGIUM, WISCONSIN, June 7, 2024. While the 38th annual Luxembourg Fest of America boasts many exciting highlights, one of the most eagerly anticipated is “Luxembourg Under the Stars,” taking place Saturday night, August 10th, 2024.
This al fresco event attracts the who’s who of Luxembourgers and Luxembourg-Americans from around the globe to gather under the tent at Belgium’s Duke Henri Village Square (100 Peter Thein Avenue in Belgium, Wisconsin) for an evening of incredible Luxembourg-inspired dishes, imported beverages, and live music, benefitting the Luxembourg American Cultural Society.
This year’s menu is being curated by Luxembourg restaurant mogul Tom Hickey, in partnership with Mequon’s Lowlands Private Events & Catering. The meal will be thoughtfully created using the crème de la crème of Luxembourgish products paired with Luxembourg beer, wine, and cider, imported by Port Washington’s Ansay International.
All guests receive entrance at 5 pm for the Luxembourg Tasting Experience and live music by Tonic Roots Trio, followed by dinner at 6:30. Guests also receive a custom-created wooden ornament of the Gëlla Fra (Luxembourg statue). Reservations are now available for a $200 donation to the LACS at www.lacs.lu.
Partner Tom Hickey has been a driving force behind the creation of six restaurants in Luxembourg, including Urban Bar, which has been one of Luxembourg City’s most frequented restaurants for more than 20 years, Bazaar, Mamacita, Amore, Paname, and La Familia. Additionally, he and his wife, Alison Adams, started Twisted Cat Brewery just before COVID struck. Despite the challenges of launching a brand in the middle of the pandemic, it found success throughout Luxembourg as well as other local European countries. Twisted Cat will be introduced to the United States at this year’s Luxembourg Fest by Ansay International and featured at Luxembourg Under the Stars.
Luxembourg Under the Stars is part of the overall Luxembourg Fest, which provides an authentic Luxembourg cultural experience in and around Belgium, Wisconsin August 9-11, 2024.
Friday, August 9th, at 9:30 am, the LACS hosts its annual Cultural Forum, “Luxembourg Culinary Traditions,” featuring Guy Thewes, director of Lëtzebuerg City Museum and Villa Vauban at Ozaukee Nonprofit Center.
Saturday, August 10, the traditional Hammelsmarsch (sheep march) commences at 11 am with a parade marching west down Belgium’s Main Street to festival grounds at Community Park. There, guests will be immersed in Luxembourgish activities including folk dancing, dining on Luxembourg street food, watching or participating in the World’s Largest Treipen-Eating Contest, shopping the Kënschtler Eck (artist corner), and sipping the finest in Luxembourgish beers, wines and ciders as live music plays by band, The Other Side. A complimentary Kid’s Zone will once again be provided.
Sunday will once again be reserved for the Luxembourg Fest Polka Mass, which begins on Fest grounds at 10 am. Followed by Mass will be the Luxembourg Fest pageantry, where the Duke and Duchess of Fest, Karen and Joe Jasper, will be crowned and the Jacoby family will be honored. Magician and comedian Glen Gerard provides entertainment following the mass.
From Thursday through Sunday, August 8-11, the LACS Museum, Gift Shop and Research Center will be open with waived admission fees from 10 am until 3 pm.
